Companies Hire All of You - Show Them Why You Shine
Todayβs companies learn a lot about your skills and experience from your resume, cover letter, bio, and LinkedIn profile, but they are often looking for more. They want to learn about You β and what type of person you are. This is why interviews are so important. They want to know:
π What makes you tick?
π What gets you motivated?
π Where does your drive come from?
π What do you know about the company, and why do you want to work there? (yes, they really want to know)
π How will you represent the company?
π How do you communicate with executives, clients, vendors, and teams?
π How do you handle problems, change, confrontation, and prioritizing?
π Do you understand the big picture, and can you articulate the details?
π What is your work ethic, customer service, and collaborative style?
π How do you manage, lead, train, motivate, and build team consensus?
They want to hear the excitement in your voice, the grit, determination, and passion to succeed, and how you will treat and care for customers/patients. Being able to do the job is obviously important, but it is also imperative to help them hear who you are and why you will be a good fit and the right person for the role.
As a candidate, you need to know about the culture, management style, and work environment to determine if this is the right company for you. Is this the right place for me? Can I work with these people, processes, problems, and projects week in and week out? Are they willing to pay what Iβm worth? Behavioral questions that are often asked during interviews are a perfect place to share your value and fit.
This is why communication is so important during the interview process. The more you learn the easier youβll both be able to say yes or move on. Be yourself, show your passion for what you do, why you enjoy it, and what intrigues you about the company, product, role, and industry. Referrals imply automatic trust by the referrer, which will soothe many company concerns.
Connect, communicate, and get to know others during networking, informal conversations, and the interview process to help them see why youβre the best candidate for the position!
